Immediately after graduation, I moved to Los Angeles to enroll at the Musicians Institute (MI) Drum Performance Program, granted with two scholarships, the ‘Musicianship Scholarship’ and the ‘International Musicians Merit Scholarship’. I typically use a lot from my marching band days to get students warmed up and really fine tune their technique and coordination. From there it truly depends on the student's goals and skill levels. I like to work on specific songs the student wants to learn or use other pieces that apply directly to what the student is trying to achieve. I have variety of experience in performance while I was in college and also recording session. As to teaching experience, I started teaching 5 years ago, I had been working as private instructor for almost 2 years before I go to college. I have had 5 students, ages were in the range of 11 to 21. My goal for teaching for beginner students was to always keep engaging. My teaching style is generally laid back. I believe that a student will only work as hard as they want to, and I have little control over that. I focus more on finding out what will make the student want to work hard, rather than forcing them to study something that does not interest them. It's all about getting the student to have a positive musical experience. That being said, I do my best to hold my students accountable, but try to do so in an encouraging way vs. a nagging and controlling way. Read More

It will actually be my first experience at teaching. I'm glad to have chosen Musika for this new experience and can't wait to teach new students what I learnt from my own teachers. I want to transmit my knowledge in drums the best I could and make it fun for everybody. I will make the lesson about the student and what he/she likes and go from there.
