My students were often times older than me so I was forced to adapt fast and develop lesson plans that might not be "standard". After establishing the experience level of the student, I will create an appropriate lesson plan. For less experienced students, I will use my own, introductory written exercises and simple guitar riffs to get started. Upon forming the basic skill needed to learn pieces of music, I will either introduce solo repertoire pieces or songs that the student wish to learn while continuing with my pre-written exercises. For more experienced students, I will use Jazz standards from the Real Book and J.S Bach pieces transcribed for guitar as a way to practice more advanced compositions and sight reading if that is something the student is interested in.
