We were awarded the "Best Bluegrass Band" by the Austin Chronicle in 2013 and 2018. We've been featured on No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain, the NBC tv show Revolution, the Daily Show (back when it was John Stewart still!), NPR, CMT, Rolling Stone, BBC, and were in the major motion picture musical Pitch Perfect 3. If there is a particular song or style that they would like to learn(and is reasonably within their ability level or I am able to modify), I work to teach it to them. Alfred's Drum Method(for learning rhythms and rudiments) A Fresh Approach to the Drumset by Mark Wessels with Stanton Moore(teaches an intro to a variety of styles, including rock, samba, jazz, etc.) Piano: Alfred's All-in-One Course This book has simple, child-centered lessons that are reasonably paced, teaches beginning music theory, and allows students the opportunity to write. In 1994 I graduated from the University Of Texas In Arlington with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education. I also have a Texas Teaching Certificate. Music is my passion. Coming from a family of musicians, I was inspired at a young age. At 8 years old, I started playing the drums. My grandfather, who played for Tommy Dorsey, was my deepest inspiration and motivated me to dial into my interest. Starting out, I played in church, the school jazz band, and took private lessons with Edd Dicapua. In 2006 I began teaching private lessons. As skills in rudiments and basic patterns develop, I go on to materials such as Syncopation by Ted Reed (reading,coordination,technique), and Stick Control by George Lawrence Stone (technique).
