For beginners, I have a special system that implements coordination while utilizing proper counting technique. As their understanding of their limbs grows the more I begin to welcome actual musical notation. This system has proven time and time again to tackle the initial issue that coordination imposes. I continue to push the student to get better no matter their pace, and in a constant reminder, that slow and steady will win the race as opposed to sloppily breezing through a subject. We want to avoid a student taking three steps back due to lack of rudimental and physicality refinement. I graduated from Temple University in 1988, with a Master's of Music degree in the area of Percussion Performance, and Jazz emphasis.
