I like to use custom lesson plans. I evaluate the student's playing and ask what they want to improve on and/or want to learn. Based off of this, I might use rhythmic study exercises from Ted Reed's "Syncopation" or hand patterns from the book "Stick Control", playing on both a practice pad and the kit. Music is my passion. Coming from a family of musicians, I was inspired at a young age. At 8 years old, I started playing the drums. My grandfather, who played for Tommy Dorsey, was my deepest inspiration and motivated me to dial into my interest. For a beginner I introduce the instrument, and instruct them in the basic techniques to start playing music the first day! I will then give them the instructional tools so they can feel comfortable putting their ideas into practice.
