My hope is to encourage and inspire players of all ages to pursue music as a passion and find love for it. Each student is and individual and as an individual, there is no cookie cutter way to teach. Much of my lesson plan is specific to the age, experience, desire and ability of the student, but the basics tend to remain the same. I try to craft dexterity and melodic exercises to unite the ear and fingers, while crating a basic understanding of the theory involved, a rhythmic exercise which teaches comping and time, and assign a song to work on between lessons. Playing music is a passion of mine and always makes me happy. Therefore, there is nothing I enjoy more than seeing a student who has been working hard on learning something accomplish their goals and improve. I encourage all students to practice as much as possible. There is no way to improv without practice. I am a University of North Texas graduate. I studied with Jim Riggs and Dr. Eric Nestler and played in the top lab bands and classical ensembles while attending school. I later moved to NYC where I started my professional playing career. I lived there for 14 years playing with several music ensembles and studied with Bill Blount on clarinet and Lorrie Glaze on piano.
