I have a genuine passion for music, and love to share that with other people. My approach to teaching is to always to share in the enthusiasm for student's individuality of expression. I like to help students set their educational goals based off what their goals are as an artist. With clear and measurable progress, students will gain momentum and confidence to write or perform. Listening to what kinds of musical elements excite and inspire the student also guides my approach in helping them acheive those specific tools to express themselves. Read More

For all my students, I like to get down to where the joy comes from. I channel that throughout the lessons to keep a motivative approach on channeling what made them choose drums in the first place. I start every students experience with the question why drums?. And once I have their answer, I can begin to construct a plan for each student and their desires for the instrument. Anybody can show you rudiments, drum patterns notation..i'm here to show you how to be the best musician you can be using tips and tricks i've obtained over my years of experience. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, its important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress and this makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the students, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

For beginning students, I start with the Drummers Complete Vocabulary, which establishes good technique. Simultaneously, based on the students interests, I pick two styles that the student would like to begin working on. Once they've learnt a specific rudiment, I show them how to use that in everyday performance and get creative with it by applying that in beats, fills etc. If the student has a specific song or style that they want to learn, I help them break it down into simple parts so that they can understand and perfect it really easily. I've found the most successful drummers can read well and play all styles. For beginning students, I generally introduce 'Syncopation' by Ted Reed along with 'Stick Control,' the PASIC 40 Rudiments, 'Alfred's Drum Method' for drum set, and technical exercises. For more advanced students, I like to use books like Rick Latham's 'Advanced Funk Studies,' David Garibaldi's 'Future Sounds,' 'Portaits in Rhythm' by Anthony Cirone, and 'The Art of Bop Drumming' by John Riley.
