I picked up my Aunt's clarinet at 3 years of age -- and never put it back again.  27 years later, I continue to play in many different community bands and orchestras. The only thing I love more than playing music is teaching it. I have taught music in both charter schools and private lessons for the last 10 years and have a patient approach with my students. My teaching experience began in 2008, when I began teaching private lessons on various instruments, on voice, and on conducting. I later went on to teach band and choir at Cedar Bluff High School in 2011. After this, I volunteered as the band director at Valley Head High School in 2014. I have enjoyed every moment of teaching music and have taken so much from the experiences that I've had. I am a passionate musician, educator, conductor, and composer, and I have been happily obsessed with music since I began piano lessons at age 10. I joined the school band program in 6th grade, and since then, I have learned how to play and teach many different instruments. My primary instrument is percussion, but I play piano, low brass, clarinet, bass guitar, and I also have perfect pitch. I ask them to bring any materials they have and will often recommend books and supplemental material I have had success with. I taught a little in Idaho but really started teaching in earnest when I moved to Colorado. I've taught individuals from the young beginner to the older person looking to relearn a lost art. I have also adjudicated and taught masterclasses. I've found a passion for working with others that I didn't know that I had. For beginning Clarinet lessons I start with the basics and fundamentals from assembling and disassembling the instrument along with proper cleaning, Storage and proper placement of fingers for playing and basic breathing techniques.
