I also use a system of putting certain vowels to the different ranges of the Clarinet (i.e.- one should think "O" when playing in the Clarion register because thinking that vowel will naturally open one's throat). Any good coach would study the student for any weakness, and formulate a viable plan to bridge the gap again to take them further faster.. I have had many students continue to play when they entered college just for fun and a way of meeting people with similar interests.
