My teaching experience began in 2008, when I began teaching private lessons on various instruments, on voice, and on conducting. I later went on to teach band and choir at Cedar Bluff High School in 2011. After this, I volunteered as the band director at Valley Head High School in 2014. I have enjoyed every moment of teaching music and have taken so much from the experiences that I've had. The level of the student matters greatly to my approach. For younger students, I'll usually use their band music or band methods to supplement class work, as well as offering my own exercises to strengthen fundamentals. Older students often use the Rose, Uhl and Lester etude books. I use Avrahm Glaper's Scales and Arpeggios for my technical exercise or use exercises that I've come up with myself. Read More

My teaching experience began in Webster, South Dakota as their high school band director for 11 years. I was then invited to move back to my college town of Brookings, South Dakota to be their middle school band director. I moved to Sioux Falls and taught in the Catholic School System for a number of years. Then I was fortunate to teach my last 11 years in beautiful southern California where I taught instrumental music at elementary to high school levels. Read More

I have served on the board of two different local community bands. I continue to play in a community band and also volunteer my time to play on local shows for the communty theaters. Teaching music is all about the student and sharing the passion and skills that only music can provide with the student.
