I enjoy many different types of music, and am stylistically very versatile. Some of my favorites include Brazilian, Latin, classical, Broadway and musical theater, and popular music. In addition to attending The Berklee College of Music, and completing my degree at SUNY Empire State College, Ive been lucky enough to have studied my instruments and composition with some musical greats like Joe Henderson, Joe Lovano, Jim McNeely, Lyle Mays, and more. My creative apporach to teaching is shaped by the interests of each individual student, finding a personalized strategy to make learning fun! I work together with my students and their families to establish mutual goals and we acheive them through learning techniques that keep students engaged, interested, and motivated. I offer a well-rounded experience that establishes strong fundimentals in techinique and quality of sound production. To develop technical proficiency and an understanding of lyrical phrasing, I have intermediate and advanced woodwind students work out of the Klose, Ferling, and Rose etude books. Read More

For beginning and intermediate students I like to teach out of the Rubank Method books. They have pieces that focus on one issue or another and are short enough to encourage students to simply become used to the idea of practicing every day. Once the student has some basic fundamentals it is always nice to work on a piece of repertoire. Again certain challeges are adressed and met through this as well, but the goal is also to have a chance to perform it, displaying a practical application to the student's accomplishments and hopefully encouraging the student to become further interested. I believe that lessons should be catered towards the unique musical goals of the individual. I take pride in finding new ways to teach proper fundamentals and habits in new students, that will ensure long-term success on their instrument, and allow them to explore whichever avenue in music they wish to pursue. For students interested in learning jazz, I emphasize ear training and rhythmic feel, while introducing more advanced theory and technical studies. Read More

I've worked in many different fields around music education, enabling me to have a broad range of experiences and an ability to adapt to any situation. As a music instructor, I've taught 1-on-1 private lessons, and I've also worked at several summer camps including the Florida State University Jazz Camp, where I was the musical assistant to professor Bill Kennedy, and at Long Lake Camp For The Arts, where I served as the head of the music department. As a teacher, I am learning from my students as well - each person is a unique journey in the world of music and each person teaches me something about communication, understanding, motivation, time-managing during lessons and in individual practice. My main objective is to make the lessons a joy, a positive, motivating experience, to boost self-confidence and provide enjoyment, fun. I teach different people differently, using my background in psychology of learning, understanding individual needs. Read More

I began teaching in 2012 when I was awarded the Graduate Assistant position at Western Michigan University. As a G.A., I was responsible for teaching non-music majors saxophone lessons, theory and ear-training, as well as coaching ensembles. I also taught flute and clarinet at Paramount Charter Academy in Kalamazoo, Michigan to middle school students. It was a very rewarding experience to teach people of various ages, ability levels, and goals, and allowed me to refine my teaching methods based on the needs of each student. I currently teach music theory, piano, saxophone, clarinet, flute, drums, and composition at Belle Arti Center for the Performing Arts in Queens, NY. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
