I like to make learning an instrument an enjoyable experience and allow students to progress at their own pace. I also introduce them to different styles of music such as classical, folk, Broadway musicals as well as popular songs. In addition, I teach students new skills and techniques to enhance their playing abilities. I encourage my students to practice, ask questions about the music and how it should be played with respect to the technique and expression required to perform a piece of music effectively. Read More

I am passionate about inspiring love for music in my students, and creating a supportive private lesson experience from which students find enjoyment and the motivation to develop their talents. Lesson plans are tailored to the interests of each individual student, so that their musical progress is a fun process that the student is enthusiastic about. I provide a friendly, encouraging atmosphere paired with expectations to reach realistic goals we set together. Read More

Studying music has been one of the most positive forces in my life. I am dedicated to providing a welcoming and non judgmental environment for my students to freely express themselves. I graduated from the Manhattan School of Music in New York with my Bachelors degree and I returned to pursue my Masters degree. I have performed all over the world and I produce many concerts for charity. I have performed in major venues such as Alice Tully Hall and the Cathedral of St. Read More

I am a passionate and caring instructor who loves working with students to build a long lasting love of music. I attended New York University for my Bachelor of Music and McGill University for my Master of Music. I am constantly continuing my education with private clarinet instruction in New York City. I frequently attends woodwind workshops and seminars by artists/ensembles such as Ricardo Morales, Anton Rist, the Imani Winds, and the Fifth House Ensemble. Read More

Gaining a full understanding of the student and their needs is the most effective way for me to cater my instruction. (I should note that I have experience teaching recorder and piano to a student with autism as well). At the end of each lesson, I like to de-brief with the parents about the student's progress that day and to discuss their assignment for the week. I also like to be a resource for my student in and outside of the lesson, so parents and/or students are always allowed to contact me about questions or concerns during the week. Read More

In addition to helping me improve my facility with the saxophone, Paul helped me develop a solid pedagogy for the instrument. At Queens I also devised a curriculum for the Queens College Balkan Music Ensemble, a group which I founded and directed for one semester before graduating in 2012. Since completing my masters degree, I've continued teaching privately, and performing with my groups, Raya Brass Band and Sherita. I perform around 80 shows a year, both in the New York Area and touring nationally. Read More

You can learn so much about a student in a 30 minute trial lesson! If a new student is not a total beginner, I will ask them to play their favorite song (or one of their favorites if they have trouble choosing just one). After their performance, I ask them what they liked about how they played. Its important for students to always be aware of what they do well. If they arent able to see their strengths on their own then I share with them what I think their strengths are and encourage them to keep that up. Read More
