Hi! My name is Nish M. I am an improvising musician, specializing in Woodwinds (primarily the Saxophone and Clarinet), Composing/Arranging/Producing/Recording. I attended the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2010 where I studied Jazz Performance. I stayed in Sydney until 2020, where I did a lot of work as a session musician, (The Voice, Solange Knowles, Yolanda Be Cool, ++...) For the last 2 years I moved my life to the USA to firstly undertake a Masters program at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, where I found myself studying and being asked to perform with some of the most elite musicians in the world (John Patitucci, Danilo Perez, Joe Lovano, Terri Lynne-Carrington, Bruno Raberg).

We can talk about: Instrumental Technique: Leaning to making a better, stronger, more in-tune and richer sound on your instrument. Improving how fast, and evenly your fingers can operate your instrument. Theoretical/Musical Technique: Ear Training - teaching you how to quickly recognize different chords, tonalities, and intervals just by hearing it once. Developing your ability to sing in tune! (A must for a good musician) Rhythm - working on metronome exercises, to develop a rock-steady internal clock to unlock your deepest possibly expression of the music. Composition: Learning to write songs, or pieces. What styles are you interested in? Let's dive deep into those styles and learn how we can compose within them. Arranging/Electronic Music Production: Learning to work with a DAW, and how to record yourself, and how to turn that into a full-fledged songs.
In order to get the most out of each lesson with me, I will assign you practise for the week based on how to best target your growth areas. You will have to play daily! And I will work with you on how to achieve consistency with your practise schedule, as well as how to prioritise your time to make sure you are improving at the highest rate that you can comfortably manage! I am a stronger believer of - "if you can't explain it in a way that even a baby could understand it, you don't understand the topic area well enough". I pride myself on being a teacher that can unequivocally deliver you straight-up, tried & tested, failsafe methods to improve fast on your instrument, with the aim of expanding you closer and closer to the type of player that you dream you could be. Learning is an artform itself and there are different methods of how you can learn a skill that are better than others. I want to help you unlock your optimal growth and potential. With me - you will get direct, straightforward and easily digestible music instruction, that focusses on building your musical skill holistically. Aside from focusing on mastering just your instrument, you will understand musical theory, as well as build your ears, as well as your voice!
