As a performer, I have played in various ensemble and groups in Atlanta and around the country. I've shared the stage or recorded with many local, national and international artists, including Debbie Gibson, The Four Freshman, Lizz Wright, Chris Potter, Scott Wendholt, John Fedchock, Michael Abene, Michael Johnson, Julie Dexter, Ronnie Cuber and many others. Locally, Jason has performed in the majority of the clubs and festivals in Atlanta, including the Atlanta Jazz Festival (1998-2008, various groups) and the Atlanta Montreau Music festival. He has had the opportunity to perform in various Latin, R&B, rock and electronic bands. I have performed in various chamber groups, including theatre productions of "Groucho Marx", “Jekyll and Hyde”, “Grease” and "A Grand Night for Singing", all productions on flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, alto saxophone and tenor saxophone. I have maintained a private teaching studio since I was 17 years old, teaching saxophone, clarinet, flute, music theory and beginning piano

I have been teaching since high school; working in several summer camps, after-school programs, and as a peer tutor. Performing music has been a part of my life since before I can remember. One day it clicked that I should fuse my passion for music and talent for teaching to become a Music Educator. That is how I found myself at Berklee College of Music, the #1 music school in the country. At Berklee, I performed in several bands and studio recordings around Boston. In the Music Education Department, I refined my teaching skills and learned contemporary music teaching practices for both voice and instrumental students. I also began teaching private vocal lessons and volunteered as a vocal instructor in a local community program. For my student teaching requirements, I taught General Music, Band, and Chorus to students grades Pre-K-12th grade in two local schools in Boston. After completing my degree, I returned to Atlanta where I continue work as a vocal coach in several community programs, teach private vocal lessons, and serve as the Music Teacher at a middle school in Clayton County. Teaching and performing music is my life's passion!

I am a sensitive and determined instructor and I love teaching music and sharing its beauty. I am currently completing my studies at Kennesaw State University where I will be obtaining a degree in Saxophone Performance. While attending Kennesaw I have had copious teaching and performing opportunities. Prior to beginning my studies at Kennesaw I attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC), where I had the opportunity to play lead saxophone in all of the school’s music ensembles. At ABAC, I also had the opportunity to share the stage with trumpeter Michael Phillip Mossman, saxophonist Victor Goines, trombonist Harry Watters, and was a featured soloist with the jazz band during the 2010 Jazz Education Network Conference in St. Louis, Missouri.

There are many acceptable method books for beginning students, however, I have found that if a student gets relatively comfortable on their instrument before trying to decipher a grand staff, they seem to enjoy the learning experience more. The hardest part of teaching music, in my opinion, is the educational content that isn't in a method book. Finding someone who can play your instrument better than you can often be more inspirational than finding a new piece that is slightly out of your comfort zone or using a method book that, at the end of the day, is supposed to help a student reach the ability level of the person the student aspires to be. Having said all that, young students must learn the building blocks of being a good player before trying jump right into their long term goals.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
