During his time at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Jones served as a coach for flute ensembles, taught supplementary flute lessons for undergraduate students, worked as the orchestra manager and librarian and also worked with professors as a teaching assistant. He has performed with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Wind Ensemble and Orchestra, Alcorn State University’s Concert Band, Marching Band, Choir and Jazz Ensemble, The National Historic Black Colleges and University’s ALL STAR Wind Symphony, Jamaica Symphony orchestra, The Young Jamaica Ensemble, and has made several guest appearances at the Natchez Music and Arts league in Mississippi performing solo and collaborative works. Oftentimes I tailor lessons that ive created in my past to create lesson plans for individual students. I oftentimes use action research methods in helping me determine whether or not the teaching method that is being used in the lesson is effective for the student receiving lessons. Teaching music is a very rewarding experience. Its often nice to see a student to be able to open their eyes and understand the music concept. Every child is different. I like to let each student to progress at their own pace. Patience is the key here when learning to play a new music instrument. I am very flexible and layback.
