My teaching style is a combination of Suzuki method and traditional method. Having learned with the traditional method, I feel it is vital and extremely important for students to learn to read music from the point at which they start reading books and words, this is typically at age 5. For students under age 5 we begin learning everything by ear, once they start reading we introduce reading notes. I'm passionate about having a parent present for every lesson as it is extremely important that a parent or caretaker learn the material so they can be the teacher at home during the week for practice sessions. I believe in teaching the foundations of cello playing for all levels-- such as scales, arpeggios, double stops. We encounter these techniques all over the repertoire and it's important to learn the basics. I incorporate practice techniques and etudes while teaching pieces to help the student learn how to work on it on their own. I check in with my students and ask what they want to learn, if there are any specific pieces or songs they want to learn-- I want to make sure they are doing something they are passionate about, and I always find that giving students some choices gets better results and practice time drastically increases. This has defined the unorthodox style he's developed. His music fuses his classical training with his love of heavy metal, fantasy, film folk music. Building layers of cello on top of each other, he creates a world simultaneously dark, beautiful, wonderful, fantastic breathtaking. Read More

My teaching experience began at age 16, when a family friend asked if I would teach her daughter violin. I instantly found a love for the challenge of teaching, and the joy when a student experiences success. I have taught privately in a myriad of settings: music stores, music studios, and in students' homes. In high school, I was accepted into a music program that prepared me for entering college as a Music Education major. Read More
