Music is my life and I don't know what I'd do if it wasn't teaching. I do private lessons both in person and online. I have students of all ages, 5 - 45. I've been doing this for seven years. I specialize in practice techniques and NYSSMA prep. It's funny I don't believe in bad music. Beauty is in the eye (or in this case the ear) of the beholder. There are many ways to love music, and there are just as many ways to learns music. Read More

When teaching young children and beginners, I use the Suzuki method. I have been certified in pre-book 1 and book 1 of the Suzuki method by the legendary educator Tanya Carey. For older/more advanced students, I use a series of methods taught to me by the renowned cellist and pedagogue Robert Jesselson, whose teachings have lead me to where I am today, and have produced cellists of the highest quality that can be found among the worlds greatest orchestras and institutions. I have over 13 years of private teaching experience with cellists of all ages and experience levels. As a soloist, ensemble member, and participant in international festivals and competitions, I have performed throughout the US, China, Canada, Switzerland, and Russia. I have performed as a soloist with various orchestras throughout Connecticut including the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, and was a member of Carnegie Hall's National Youth Orchestra of the USA. Though my education is in classical music, I am also an experienced performer and arranger of pop, rock, and other contemporary music, and aim to allow students to use the cello to find their own artistic voices in whatever genres they enjoy most. I am a college student who is very passionate to share my knowledge in music. Playing cello since the age of 4, I have competed in all levels of NYSSMA including All-State. I have been the principle cellist of my high school chamber orchestra, nominated for top ten in the country, for a few years. I have also been a principle cellist in the New York Laureate Orchestra as well as a performing soloist. Read More

Effective music education is both developmentally and culturally appropriate: By working with the student to understand their interests, I hope to provide them with an experience that will enrich their musical and social life outside of the work we do together. Through infancy, I believe Music Learning Theory is effective for developing musical and linguistic skills. If a student in toddlerhood/childhood shows that they have a preferred way to express themselves musically, I will tailor lessons around the Kodaly (voice), Orff (instrumental), or Dalcroze (dance) philosophies. I taught in Hod-Hasharon Conservatory of Music for two years and had a private studio, teaching kids, adolescents, and adults from all ages in private and group settings. My goal as a teacher is to pass my love for music to my students. I believe that the only way a student can improve is through an enjoyable and rewarding practicing experience, while receiving the right mentorship and maintaining a strong and positive teacher-student relationship. I work in partner with students who are enrolled in public school lessons, and incorporate their school's method book (i.e. Essential Elements 2000 or similar), as well as rudimentary exercises and pieces appropriate for their level. I am a strong advocate of Kreutzer etudes, Hrimaly scales, and Suzuki pieces as learning tools. I guide my instruction based around the students' ability, needs, and goals. I believe that learning music is a constant conversation between student, teacher, and any others involved (parents, guardians, siblings, school music teacher), and like to keep communication open with weekly notes and homework assignments recorded in a music notebook.
