I have been teaching for over 10 years. I have experience teaching students of all levels and ages. I have taught for a number of institutions in the New York City metro-area, including The Harmony Program, Tone Academy of Music, Hunter Elementary Music School, MusicWise, Silver Music School, Brooklyn Conservatory and I currently hold a private studio at my home and travel to my students homes. My work with the DCYOP, an El-Sistema inspired program, involves teaching the basics of playing the violin, viola, cello and music theory, adjudicating students’ progress, leading sectionals and full rehearsals in various DC schools, some from the most underserved communities. Highlights are having all the different schools come together for a large performance at the Kennedy Center and the students performances with Yo-Yo Ma, Joshua Bell and Esperanza Spalding. I’ve also facilitated many youth orchestra performances and summer camps as string teaching artist in DC and Maryland showcasing that I can motivate the students to a high quality performance regardless of the amount of time. However, I do not teach the Suzuki method. I use the book for the songs and exercises in the book. I also like all students to work from a theory book. When we learn how to speak, we also learn how to read and write in our language. I believe that the same is important for music. I use different books for adults and children. My teaching experience dates back to when I was a senior in high school. I would teach local cellists ranging from Elementary School ages to College aged students. Outside of teaching cello, I spend my time as a Choir Director and a Religious Education Teacher.
