It depends on the student's age and level of skill, however, I like to focus on building a good rapport with a student while learning and cementing the essentials of cello playing: having a good posture, holding the bow, reading, etc. I prefer to have a process that is somewhat slow in the beginning and that gradually picks up as the student becomes more acquainted with the cello. If a new student already knows the basic things, I still like to do a quick brush up to see what bad habits need to be fixed and how we can move forward in the most productive way. Read More

Originally from Anaheim, CA, I've been living in New York City for the past six years while completing my Bachelor and Master's degrees at The Juilliard School. I love exploring new creative ways to use the cello, and have taken influences from all sorts of musical genres, from pop to EDM to bluegrass. I've played my cello with rock bands, avant-garde multimedia installations, contemporary dance, and jazz combos. I'm also a passionate Star Wars fan, technology enthusiast, and lover of philosophy! Instruments: Piano Violin Cello Viola
I've enjoyed teaching piano, violin and viola students, for the past seventeen years! And what I've generally found is, that it's not how long you practice, but how well. I feel that a student needs to be taught how to practice! I travel around Westchester NY and in addition to teaching the instrument, I encourage students to compose their own original pieces. I am a published composer and many of my music videos can be seen on You Tube. Read More
