Nothing makes me happier than having the opportunity to share my love of music and guitar. Upon graduating from Skidmore College in 2000, I was accepted to Florida State University to the classical guitar program under the study of Bruce Holzman. I feel my decision to simultaneously work towards two masters degrees speaks clearly for my motivation and passion towards music. While I focused on music theory/composition for my PhD studies at Louisiana State University, I continued performing newly composed works by graduate composers for the instrument. Read More

At a very young age I learned that I loved music and was very good at it. There was something about music that moved me deep inside and I could connect to music. Music gave me hope, strength, and determination and has greatly influenced my life. It presents technical, rudimentary, and musical aspects in an easy to understand format. I have other books that I pull examples from for topics being studied as well. I often create my own custom lessons for which the students and I work on together to create a lesson plan that can be viewed via tablet or computer, or printed out in PDF form. Read More

My favorite skill level to teach are intermediate guitarists who are looking to take their skills to the next level. I use an interdisciplinary course of study that touches upon several different styles and music theory applications. Diversity is one of the most important parts of leveling up one's skill level, so I try to encourage intermediate players to consider looking at several styles, including classical, jazz, rock, blues, and of course my main specialty, metal. My teaching experiences go back at least 15 years. I started when I was in college and have never stopped teaching. In my lessons I focus on the whole child. Together we find out where their strengths lie and capitalize on those strengths. Music is supposed to be fun and that is one of my goals is to keep it fun and exciting for the student. I find it is best to expose the student to all types of music new and old and everything from classical to hip hop. Read More

I started teaching private lessons in high school. I taught guitar, bass, piano, voice, and songwriting lessons at Biryukov Academy of Arts and Music for 5 years for both kids and adult beginners. I have performed, written and music directed a children's theatre tour where I taught children to sing, act, and perform in front of large crowds. I was trained classically in voice, but also have a strong passion for pop, rock, and musical theatre. Read More
