I began teaching guitar in high school to middle school students and continued teaching children and adults throughout college. While in music college, I grew to start to teaching bass guitar as well as drums. My teaching style is focused yet fun. Me and my students always have a good time through my curriculum of theory and how it relates to music they enjoy. Whether it’s finding music theory in Taylor Swift song, or learning the guitar neck through a Beatles solo, I always find a way to teach through interests that the students have rather than force a cookie cutter approach. Music has been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember! I started playing the electric organ when I was about 7 years old. I couldn't read music yet, but I would listen to my dad play and just copy him. When I was in 3rd grade I started playing cello... in 5th grade the trombone.... in 8th grade the drums.... in high school the bass guitar.... and later it was the guitar, violin, viola and ukulele. I've been fortunate to have some pretty amazing students in the past. The most rewarding part of any teachers job is seeing their students develop into better people, musicians, and instrumentalists through hard work and fun discoveries. Many of my students have gone on, or continued, to pursue careers in some form of music while many have not. Yet a common thred amongst them is a deeply rooted appreciation for music both as an art form and a science. Read More

I am a kind, patient man who believes that learning to play music is it's own reward. I struggled frequently while I was learning the guitar, and I don't believe that there is a right or wrong pace to learning. Each student is different, but all students should feel excited about learning, and rewarded by the work that they put in. My style is simply to encourage students as they progress and address difficulties in a positive and and constructive method. Read More

I think its important to note that I have over 15 years of experience as a student of music and through this formal education, I have observed teachers, analyzed techniques, identified best practices, and formulated a point of view about music education that I have assimilated into my instruction. My experience has taught me that successful music education prioritizes fun, encouragement, inspiration, and connecting with the students. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor degree in Music Education from Temple Universitys Boyer School of Music. Read More

For beginning students, I normally start with Alfred's Drum Method. This book works on the fundamentals of reading snare drum music and basic technique. Once the students grasps the basics on reading and playing with a metronome then we tend to move to Tommy Igoe's Groove Essentials (while still working on the Alfred's Method). After the student has began to play with the audio tracks and have succesfully gone through a few lessons from Groove Essentials then we begin to work on some solo repertoire and personal favorites as well.
