Voice: The voice is a fascinating instrument. We use it every day from the moment we're born and it is constantly changing as we progress through life. I love guiding singers through these changes and unlocking their true voice with individualized curricula that cater to what the voice needs. Exercises and songs are carefully chosen and provided sequentially based on the singer's current ability and specific goals. I start lessons with an assessment that helps me determine the technical abilities and musical abilities of the singer. Read More

I love teaching the individual. My first instructor wanted to know about me, my likes and my goals, and that is the approach I like to take for each student, whether they want to perform live, or need to prepare for a college audition, or anything in between. I taught a class of children around the age of 6, and an older class as well for a while at a private school in Arkansas. It was a joy teaching both age groups. I was able to infuse theory and appreciation into learning songs that they loved. Read More

I am enthusiastic about introducing myself and sharing my passion for music in the world of the double bass. With a rich background including over a decade of teaching experience as well as more than more than five years of professional playing, my musical journey has been shaped by prestigious institutions such as the Eastman School of Music and the Interlochen Arts Academy. I have had the privilege of joining the stage with distinguished orchestras like the Albany Symphony and Binghamton Philharmonic, alongside various other orchestras across upstate New York, as a substitute player. I am aware of the many people that have a great desire to learn about music. I view it as a language. Once you are able to read write and speak (singing or playing) you are fluent in music. I graduated from the Eastman School of music in 1977 and have played in several bands and sung in a multitude of singing groups during my life. I have taught music in all its forms for 40 years. Teaching, for me, began when I was in high school; I taught summer drumset lessons at McQuaid Jesuit and taught Karate at Martial Arts America. This desire to teach was incorporated with my love of music...leading me to pursue a degree in Music Education. I began performing and competing in fourth grade, which continued into my college years. In my third year of undergraduate work, these elements of music led me as well as three of my percussion buddies to performances and clinics (that we taught) at the New York State School Music Association and the New York State Band Director's Association conventions. Music is very much a personal subject unique to each person, and I create different lesson plans for every student I have. I have acquired a large amount of sheet music, textbooks, and other sources that I am happy to share with my students. Along with learning the technique of your instrument, I also place emphasis on teaching ear training, aural skills, basic music theory, and writing their own music. Read More
