I also taught youth and teen band classes and clinics at Plugged In Band Program in Needham, MA from 2005 to 2018, prior to moving to Los Angeles in January 2019. I use Alfreds guitar method books for guitar and bass.  Piano I use the Bastian and others.  I teach from both my song books, and by thier cd or audio tracks.  I teach each student individually and move them forward to performance level. I teach how to read music and music ear training.  Theory training is also available at lessons as needed. Once I get the student past the basics on to intermediate level, I can listen to cd or audio recordings and reproduce the instrumental part on the spot. Read More

I believe in getting the student interested in the concepts and styles themselves, i like to introduce them to different ways of playing and my main method is to show them how it can be exciting to play/learn. For eg, for someone who loves games, I would show them how to play chords and melody ( on a piano ) at the same time by using the Minecraft theme song as an example, or any game that they might know and enjoy so it gets them interested to want to play and learn, through that i will show them dfferent techniques and concepts, this way they are already enjoying what they are learning and at no point will not want to practice it on their own. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. My methods all depend on the students' needs and/or wishes; one lesson plan/method does not necessarily fit all students. Especially with adult students I think it is essential to cater to the students' goal. If this involves the need to learn certain techniques, requires knowledge of music theory or the ability to read music, I will advise the student so.
