I began teaching private lessons in 2018 for double bass, electric bass, jazz theory, repertoire and improvisation. After graduating from Berklee I began teaching bass for the Hopkinton Music Association, a non-profit supporting music education in Hopkinton Public Schools. In 2023 I was hired as a music teacher for Note-worthy Experiences Music Studio and Karen Amlaw Music, where I taught bass, oboe, and English horn. I do stress in my lessons the importance of consistency of practice. 15 mins everyday is much more rewarding than 3 hours in one day. I like to write out everything that I explain in my classes to my students so that they have a reference of what they are learning. As lessons progress another part of my teaching method is to teach students something they can be proud of. For younger students that might be a nursery rhyme they know all the words to and feel like they can perform for their parents, for older students it might be a song they love and hear on the radio and always wanted to learn how to play. By doing this early on I hope to show students that with their hard work they can make music they're proud of and show them the benefits of practicing and reaching goals. Read More
