I have mentored children learning guitar for the first time, adults learning guitar for the first time and experienced guitarists dedicated to honing their craft. Furthermore, as an experienced composer and songwriter, I have assisted many students with the craft of composition and presented on lyric writing. Read More

I began teaching 11 years ago during my senior year of high school. At the time I had been playing for many years. During this time I had five students. One of my students was a friend who had been envious of my playing for a while when he decided to ask for lessons. It was truly amazing and rewarding to see him advance to a level where he could play along with other people and write songs. Read More

Hello, future student! I am an electric/upright bassist from northern Maine with a degree in Music Performance from the University of Maine in Orono. I've been a part of local music scenes since the age of 17 and began pursuing a professional music career during my time in college, where I was sought after as the bassist for many ensembles both as a student, and as a professional. I continue to be very passionate about sharing my knowledge and expertise with new students, as I have been ever since slowly learning music myself as a child. Read More

Melody (lead) playing is not essential, but encouraged, as I believe it is a viable and gratifying skill. Supplemental books are helpful and encouraged, but not required, as is music theory and sight reading (standard notation). Many books will include technical studies such as theory, which can certainly be helpful. Playing by ear is very helpful and useful, and I do utilize that. The abundance of online instructional videos can also be a supplement, as are other websites that use tablature (tab) notation, which I also use. Read More

The teaching begins with identifying student's musical needs, goals and tastes. Students are taught a stimulating, thorough, and graduated course of recital solos, theory, technical studies, and a strandard instrument repertoire. For those wishing to pursue more of a classical approach to music, there are proven methods to accomplish that goal established by European Master Teacher and pedagogues. Also, I can teach the know-how of Jazz and Blues though gradual lessons that cover basic scales and chords up to melody and harmony development. Read More

I approach teaching with patience. When a student learns concepts and techniques for the first time, it might take a while to really get it down. By having a patient and calm aura, it helps the student to not get frustrated. In addition, each student learns at their own pace. Some might get it quicker that others and that's fine. It is important to be patient with them so that they can learn comfortably. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
