30 plus years experience playing and teaching 20 Years of studio experience My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 8 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 5 years. The main points I always try bring home is playing a musical instrument is a committment but it doesn't mean its not fun. It should be. I try to get a beginning student to the intermediate one, up and running at playing some of their favorite songs (within reason of ability) quickly so as to keep things moving forward and keep the experience fresh. Over the years I've evolved and developed my own style of teaching that fits the aspiring student's needs. Read More

Every student starts or resumes classes at different levels. My job is to recognize that level and proceed accordingly. I like my students to be able to learn and progress at the rate they can or want to. Letting students let you know what they want to learn and at what pace, helps the student as well as the teacher in that progress. I like to tell my students that they will not only be a good player, but know exactly what they are doing. Read More

I break lessons down into technique, theory, and whatever the student is particularly wanting to learn. I particularly like to pull from the Berklee Press or Musician's Institute books, as they are well received. Read More
