I think it is important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. Everyone learns differently and everyone has different interests and goals. My goal as a teacher is to try and cater to the student's interests. I teach them to play scales with a metronome and they are usually playing 16 th notes and counting it out while they play it in the first month.I want to get them off and running. I teach them to read chord charts in the first month and have students reading notation in F and G clef in 5-6 hours worth of lesson time. My theory teacher Mr Lormand, had a master from Julliard and was a stickler for the vernacular and so am I, my grandmother was a school teacher and I get a lot from her as well.I get my students to buy a Harvard Dictionary of music for reference. First I need to know the type of music a student likes. Then I access their level and put together a plan to make them progress by teaching them a combination of; - techniques they need to know and master - exercises to help develop those techniques - songs based on their level and music taste - theory to understand the songwriting style - songwriting exercises to develop their artist side I also recommend music and videos, talk about gear, road experience, and anything else music related a student might be interested in. I taught my first lessons over ten years ago now. I was only in high school then but I was very entrupenurial even then passing out flyers and posting them around my school gaining several students even then. This lead to me receiving several scholarship opportunities to many music programs around the country but I decided to stay in Orlando and go to school for completely free. since then I have played with bands and traveled and continued to teach music lessons. I feel that one of the most important aspects of music that is often overlooked, is that music should be fun. Because of this, I try to keep my lessons focused on material that really excites a student. I believe that its very important to introduce a student to a wide variety of music to help them identify what really inspires them. Once a student has discovered an aspect of music that they're truly passionate about, then they are almost much more motivated to put in the practice to master that aspect of music. Read More

I began teaching in 2020 during the pandemic. My experience during then was mostly through online lessons. During these lessons, I organized group sessions for students and recitals where they were able to showcase their ability. In 2021 I began lessons in person and also expanded to teaching bass as well. My former students currently are members of their youth orchestras as well as musicians in some of the local bands. My hope is to enable students to play whatever genre they desire, whether that be classical, jazz, or even pop. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
