My musical experience began back when I was 11 years old. I was introduced to music when I was a boy and from that point on my life changed. Through the course of my career I have played many genres of music such as Classical, Jazz, Latin, Pop, Rock, Blues, and Commercial Music. I graduated from the University Cal State Long Beach back in 2009 with and emphasis in instrumental music. I try to adapt my teaching style to however I see the student (or peer) is most effective in learning. Some people are more chart based, and like the bars written out in time so they can follow it in a more technical manner. Some have a hard time reading music, so they go off of feel. I believe in getting the student interested in the concepts and styles themselves, i like to introduce them to different ways of playing and my main method is to show them how it can be exciting to play/learn. For eg, for someone who loves games, I would show them how to play chords and melody ( on a piano ) at the same time by using the Minecraft theme song as an example, or any game that they might know and enjoy so it gets them interested to want to play and learn, through that i will show them dfferent techniques and concepts, this way they are already enjoying what they are learning and at no point will not want to practice it on their own.
