Music has always been my full-time profession. At the age of 13 I started playing bass in local bands professionally. After high school, I embarked on a collegiate musical journey, which led me to stays at Columbia College in Chicago, Bowling Green State University (where I received a full tuition scholarship) and Wayne State University. During that time, I have always kept up a busy lesson studio and performance schedule. During the last 8 years I have performed over 150 times per year, all over the country. Read More

I hated school when I was younger. I will never let my lessons feel like school. We work at each individual students pace. I also have an exceptional ear, I haven't heard anything I cannot play, so when you bring me something I'll be able to process it right away and begin showing it to you. I have extreme patience (been doing this for 20 years!) and will never make you feel dejected. Read More

My teaching style is structured, practical, and student-focused. I work with beginners through adult students, combining proven method-book concepts with real musical examples drawn from well-known songs and styles. I expect effort and active participationnew concepts are demonstrated, then immediately reinforced by having students play them back. When questions come up, I break ideas down from a theoretical, technical, and rhythmic perspective while also discussing the less tangible elements of style and feel. Read More

My teaching style is laid back with the full intention of moving forward in both technique and enjoyment. Each Lesson is geared toward the Goals we agree on as Student and Teacher. Depending on age and experience, I set goals at 3 months or 6 months. It is crucial to allow the student to learn at his or her own rate. Again, I strive to find the Creativity in the Student and to see how that can be developed as quickly as possible, especially if they are interested in songwriting, singing, composition, or simply doing their "own thing".
