I care about students achieving their goals and getting their own flow. I always do my best to inspire everyone and get them focused and ready to commit to their music. I encourage students to become greater at that, but always keeping the joy alive. Depending on the age, discovering everyone's potential is the key. I make sure student get excited for the next lesson and goes back to their instrument right after we finish the class. Read More

Regardless of their ages, I always attempt to establish what a student's interests in music are as well as their background and present faculties if applicable. From there, I attempt to develop an understanding of musical fundamentals (pitch, rhythm, timbre, dynamics) as they apply to their interests. It is crucial in my opinion to connect these essential elements of music to the context of a student's musical world. I have several books that I use regularly for examples and also, I write individual exercises for more specific issues with a student's technique and approach. Read More

For beginners, I always start with technique. The bass guitar is a very physically demanding instrument and without the proper technique, students can injure themselves and prevent musical expression. After fundamental hand technique is in place, I use a hybrid curriculum that my teacher walked me through mixed with my own theories that have worked for me and from the Musicians Institute basic theory book. Once both physical technique and basic theory is in place, the groundwork to explore is set and i can help the student achieve their goals of learning songs, training their ear, or simply being able to play along to records. I began playing drums at the age of 12 when I joined my middle school marching band. By the time I was in high school, my passion for music making and involvment with various performing groups had completely consumed me. I decided to further my musical endeavors by studying jazz performance at two different music schools. I have obtained a bachelors degree from Florida State University (2012) and a masters degree for the California Institute of the Arts (2014). Read More

I am very flexible with my teaching methods and put together the best style matching the student's learning strengths. Furthermore, I update and change my methods if I feel the current method is becoming ineffective. I keep my lessons interactive with the student because the time is for the student to retrieve as much information as he/she can regarding their instrument and they can build a stronger week of preparation heading into the next lesson. Currently my most used methods are teaching via classical, pop & jazz, and Suzuki methods. Read More

Acknowledging and celebrating a student's accomplishments is a crucial aspect of my teaching philosophy. Whether it's mastering a challenging piece, understanding a complex musical concept, or simply showing dedication and improvement, every achievement deserves recognition. The positive reinforcement from such acknowledgment serves as a powerful motivator for students. It stokes their desire to continue progressing and inspires them to delve deeper into the world of music. Watching their self-confidence grow with each accomplishment is, without a doubt, one of the most rewarding aspects of being a music teacher. Read More

I have a love for all kinds of music and look forward to teaching people that have the same. From country to rock, or whatever makes students want to pick up the instrument is what I'll use to teach them what they need and want to learn on the guitar. I always push students so they can reach their goals on the instrument. I will always give homework that will push them, but I make sure that I set a pace that they can handle. Read More
