I gave my first lesson when I was a sophomore in College, and during college I gave weekly lessons to about 5 students, each of different skill levels. During my time with these students I noticed that what I really enjoyed about teaching them was their passion for their instrument. I have also noticed that I would learn something from each student regardless of their level of musicianship, whether it be the recomendation of a new band or something that I picked up from their thought process when learning, such as how they go about learning a new concept or what they listen when they try to figure out the characteristics of a new groove or genre. For beginning students, I typically start with materials from Mel Bay or Hal Leonard. Once a student has completed this, I begin to offer materials that are more specific to the musical genre that they have stated interest in. As a student progresses, I work to expose them to a variety of techniques with a focus on helping them to develop their own unique voice on their instrument. My hope is that, during this process, students would come to view growing in their musical gifts as an enjoyable and fulfilling process that continues throughout their life. Read More

I've been teaching guitar for about 15 years, voice for 10, drums and harmonica for 6 and classical guitar for the last 4.
