I have helped people both young and old learn how to play bass guitar and perform with any band and in any style of music through private instruction. I have been teaching beginning to intermediate piano for the past 2 years and I have the same approach to teaching piano as I do the bass guitar and that is to play the instrument the way it's meant to be played. I have only one requirement as a teacher and that is, you must practice! Read More

When they are more serious, I try to establish a 45 minute practice regiment that the student should do everyday that can range from certain warm ups, scales and even sight reading if the student is inclined to dive into that musical world. The key element to having the discipline to do so is by having and fun and enjoying this so it's important that nor the teacher nor the student lose sight of that during their lessons. Read More

I love to see my students grow and develop as their passion for music increases. I facilitate this by giving examples of goals that they can reach and examples of different styles and genres that they can immerse themselves in. By doing this students see that playing and possibly mastering an instrument is not just about discipline and practice but about a high level of expression and communication. The reward my students feel from being able to accomplish this instills in them great joy and pride and motivates them to work at other things in life the same way. Read More

I began teaching the guitar and beginner piano in 2012 after I graduated from UCSB and have been teaching in students’ homes and online since then. My teaching experience ranges from teaching adults who want to learn the fundamentals of classical guitar (beginning technique and sight-reading exercises) to teaching young kids interested in modern methods of playing, learning pop and rock songs, and playing solos. In 2015, I taught in afterschool programs, notably for Hancock Park Elementary School in Hancock Park, Los Angeles, for which I taught an excellent group of curious learners as we surveyed modern guitar methods, sight-reading, chords and harmonic progressions, and playing in duos. Beginning piano students who are children will begin with the Faber and Faber lesson books which slowly progress the student through techinque and rhythmic exercises built into easy memorable songs. After building a strong base of fundementals I will the begin to introduce and teach songs the student wishes to learn alongside traditional literature to continue the technical progress. Brass lessons of all ages begin with Emory Remmington's Warm Up Studies and initially focus on production of tone, and slide/valve techinque. Read More
