Overview:
Music and teaching have always been an essential part of my life: This was true as a teenager and student, when I worked in dance music bands, played in a classical guitar duo, performed in a Rock musical or taught classical guitar and electric bass. This was true when I taught literature, philosophy and mathematics as a middle and high school teacher. It's still true today, when I play Jazz guitar in various Seattle based Jazz bands, or write and produce songs and film tracks. All that would not have happened without the support of great teachers who taught me the classical guitar technique, the flow of music in Argentinian guitar pieces or the swing and groove of Jazz Standards and Gypsy Jazz. Now, I want to pass on my fascination for music and my skills as a musician.
EXPERIENCE
I have a Master in Education and a professional teaching certificate. I taught in middle and high schools. Currently, I am teaching Computer Science at a Seattle High school. I am regularly performing as a professional guitarist in various Jazz Bands, e.g. JazzHands, Random Guys I compose, perform and produce music for film tracks and cues in my own recording studio "Edgar Sounds"
METHODS USED
There is not one method that fits all students and all styles. Young children and beginners on the guitar need to slowly develop strength and control of finger movements, while still being motivated when they learn how to play along with their favorite songs. Intermediate players often need help to get into a smooth flowing groove, to lock in with a rhythm or to phrase melodies. Advanced players might consider a few hints, tricks and exercises to improve their techniques or apply music theory to a deeper understanding of a music piece.-A major component of student success is continuity which I can provide as a teacher with lesson and practice plans. There will always be a goal to achieve or a project to work on. The lesson plan is the path to a successful project.-I consider myself to be successful as a teacher when a student graduates and moves on. Then they prove that they can apply the skills and techniques they have learned and they continue their journey of music of the music they love and create themselves. -
LESSON STYLE
My lessons are well structured and prepared. We'll have a weekly lesson planner that outlines and monitors the practices and explains the focus for the week. Planning is not opposed to spontaneously having fun which is a core part of playing music. Planning helps you have fun as you enjoy your success and see how you improve.-Lessons always have a huge hands-on part: We play songs together, jam over chord changes or try to play a melody by ear. For all of my students, I like to know what styles of music, songs, and artists inspire them. This helps me to present challenging practices in a motivating context.--

Edgar has been an excellent teacher for my eight-year-old daughter. He is very patient and kind and does a good job of helping her make progress while keeping it fun. I also greatly appreciate his flexibility around scheduling, which works well for our family. He's made my daughter's first experience learning an instrument really positive!
