For beginners on string instruments , I start with teaching them the major scale in the key of G, and then progressing to beginner songs. After a few songs are mastered, I ask each student to propose a song theyd like to learn based on their individual taste. For percussion, I focus on fundamentals such as proper sticking techniques and rudiments. The best feeling for me is seeing my students progress and enjoy playing the guitar. I always set goals for my students from lesson to lesson so that we can optimize what we do in each meeting. We will have short term and long term goals that we work with in order to achieve what a student would like to learn on the guitar.
