I am a patient teacher with a former career/background in counseling. I love music and I want my students to love it too! I played in the instrumental surf band, Venice Beach Muscle Club; we played traditional melodic melodies and surf standards but we also wrote arrangements that stretched the genre to include familiar melodies from indie rock, new wave, and 60's rock. I was born and raised in Brooklyn and have been living and teaching music here my whole life. Read More

I try to approach each student as an individual. Every student has their own level of enthusiasm, patience, willingness, and availability. Learning music should always be fun and rewarding first and foremost. I believe in building a good teacher/student relationship and pushing my students beyond what they believe their limits are. Learning music is a never ending process. I want my students to be able to learn and grow outside of the lesson room. Read More

I am a musician, composer, and educator seeking to share my musical knowledge with students who are eager to learn. I was born into a musical family, and was exposed to great music from an early age. I began playing the piano when I was eight, picked up the saxophone at ten, and have been playing flute and clarinet now for about six years. Following my musical education, attaining my Bachelor's of Music Performance at Ohio State University and then a Master's of Music at Western Michigan University, I worked as a musician for Royal Caribbean Cruises, performing alto saxophone, flute, and clarinet as part of the Show Band aboard the Radiance of the Seas. I base my students' curriculum on their individual needs and interests. I strongly believe in learning fundamentals and the principals of music through scales, music theory, ear training, and reading music notation. I believe it is equally important for students to develop their own musical interests and goals so that we can apply all of the practiced skills in a fun and meaningful way. An example of this would is if a student wanted to learn a Beatles song I would have the student learn the chords and melody, but also the associated major/minor scale that song uses and develop an exercise that would be helpful towards learning the song. I have found that a simultaneous combination of book-guided learning and practical application is often most enjoyable for a student (and teacher). Learning the fundamentals is certainly important. Using this knowledge to learn pieces of songs and understand how the songs are constructed keeps things fresh for the student and reinforces the lessons better than book learning alone. I typically start beginners with the Mel Bay series of guitar instruction books. Read More

I am a piano instructor who is always passionate and excited about teaching the art of playing the piano. Since 2007 till now, I always love to monitor the little weekly progress of my students turn into a huge development in their musicianship. I grew up playing Bach, Beethoven, and a variety of classical composer. In my teens I started learning all the pop songs, and playing with a variety of cover bands, and church choirs in Egypt.
