I am very passionate about music, and I try to motivate my students towards a similar love of music of all styles and genres. In 2014, I have completed my studies at Boston University, where I completed a PhD in Musicology with a focus on jazz of the 1930s and 1940s. Mandy, an active performer and teacher, has been teaching in the Washington DC area for 2 years. In addition to holding a studio in the DC area, Mandy also directs a children's choir and is a part of the classical music scene as a performer. In summer of 2012, Mandy was a studio artist with Chautauqua Opera for their summer season and has a large resume of other operatic performance experience. I started leading choirs as a teenager and have grown from there. I've taught theory and composition internationally (See a final project video on my profile), and taught violin and viola here in the States. I like to emphasize the importance of theory and composition throughout all lessons, as well as learning by play - music is an art of expression first and foremost.
