Growing up I was always told “practice makes perfect”, though as I grew I realized music is art and art was never meant to be perfect. I do make sure to encourage all of my students to practice as it does help make you a better musician, but perfection is never the goal. Music is an expression and a gift that should always be treated as such. I love seeing my students learn and progress! That's why the student and I set goals for the student, whether it's learning a new song, practicing a certain amount of minutes a week, or auditioning for something like a musical or talent show! Setting small goals like these helps the student feel accomplished, and want to continue to work on their new found skills.
