I am an accomplished, focused, and professional music teacher with over 7 years of teaching experience. In 2013, I graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Composition, cum laude. I am currently working on my Master of Music degree at The Bob Cole Conservatory at California State University, Long Beach. Singing is a joyfull, fun way to grow as a person and as an artist. It takes concentration and focus, though and a willingness to try out new things and very importantly: patience with oneself. I strive to create a safe space for my students where they can dive into their material and feel empowered through learning and practicing. Some weeks a piano student might complete the material rapidly and some weeks, they may want to go slower, taking their time, therefore they excel at their own comfort level and don't feel as though there is a race. Lessons are custom depending on student goals and desired musical styles. Lessons begin at the piano with vocal warm-ups and vocalises for proper singing technique, followed by vocal exercises focusing on areas in need of strengthening. Time is also spent on breath work, posture, acting, language pronunciation and choreography, depending on the song/project. I believe that choosing lesson material should always be a collaborative experience between student and teacher. Flexibility is one of my core values in teaching music, as I’ve found that each student has unique interests, goals, strengths, and weaknesses. Rather than going into lessons with a set curriculum, I like to give students some agency over what they’d like to learn while making sure to cover fundamentals as they apply along the way.
