I'm an energetic and exciting teacher who loves helping students discover their potential in music. In 2014, I graduaded from Coker College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance with a Concentration in Musical Theater. I have been performaning in theatrical productions and show cases for over eight years now. In college I was aprat of every major production whether is was performing, directing or writing. My goal is to give my students the ability to self assess. They should be able to feel when they are singing correctly, without me always pointing it out. They learn these skills through scales, basic anatomy and physiology, physical exercises, visualization etc. I am kind, patient, supportive, and always do my best to uplift my students. Helping someone learn how to open up their voice and sing is a joyful experience. Every lesson includes a warm-up for the voice and a series of breathing and vocal exercises. that build skills and technique. The time spent on each part of the lesson varies from student to student to help them make progress. An example would be a student I currently have who gets tense as she approaches higher notes- I will have her toss a ball back and forth as a distraction technique and it's amazing that a beautiful, free high note come right out! I believe in student-driven goal setting, so my students and I set a goal for each lesson. This allows them to push themselves but staying comfortable while doing so. Students will learn at their own pace while being supported and encouraged to push themselves outside of their comfort zones. My belief system is rooted in celebrating any and all progress and small victories. With a supportive teacher, a student can do anything! Read More
