I teach beginning students both by rote and through reading. We use standard Suzuki books for repertoire and method books such as Wohlfahrt, Mazaz, and Sevcik. Very young students begin on Sassmanshaus since it is very engaging as well as well written. However if there is a specific book a student wants to learn from (such as a book from school or a specific style such as country or fiddle) then I am more than willing to teach from that. Read More

My lesson style consists of working on fingering and plucking first from Essential Method Book for Strings or the Suzuki book (for the beginning students who are children). While they (children) are practicing, I encourage/ recommend them to memorize the songs if they can. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. I also try to find out what inspires the student. That way, I know their wants and needs. Read More

I generally use Alfred for piano, both the children's and adult's versions. I use Hal Leonard for guitar. For both violin and double bass, I generally use either Belwin or Essential Elements. I recently relocated to Ypsilanti, Michigan from Austin, Texas to pursue a Master of Music degree in violin performance at Eastern Michigan University.
