I placed the highest priority on the teacher-student relationship. I believe that maintaining a good teacher-student relationship can foster a students music learning. A student will be motivated to learn and practice if they like their teacher. Also, they will be eager to share their own ideas and interpretations of the music. Therefore, I will remain a not-too-close relationship with my student. If having a too close relationship with students, teachers may not become an authority to their students anymore, and receive less respect from them. Read More

I let the student decide what the lesson is to be like. There are a lot of things to cover, but I will adapt what I think is the best teaching style for the student based on things like what he or she wants to learn. If you are interested in electronic music production, I can even teach lessons in Ableton Live. I am very well versed in all aspects of pro audio and would love to share and teach my knowledge. For very young beginning students, I typically start with Faber Piano Adventures, and for older beginners, the Faber Accelerated Piano Adventures or Hal Leonard Adult Learner Series. Once the student has shown an understanding of basic theory and technique, classical repertoire will be introduced, along with level appropriate arrangements of the student's choice music. It's important that the student is taught how to practice a piece effectively to continue growing musically in between lessons, so that lessons can be used to find areas for improvement, and to learn new concepts and material. I listen to the student's music selections. While he/she plays, I observe him/her how this student is adapting to the instrument. After his/her performance, I offer constructive criticism pointing out steps to adapt himself/herself to the instrument. I also encourage and push for attentive listening for tone quality. This is very important no matter the level of students. The way to listen for tone quality is not only seating straight and at the center of the keyboard, but also understand when and how to use the bony part of the fingers(closer to nails) versus the fleshy part of fingers on the opposite side of nails. Instruments: Piano Trumpet
For about a year I have taught the students (from the ages of 10-50) trumpet and piano at the Oxford School of music. Ive got song with the students, but still maintained the get through the lessons. I tried my best teaching them what I know about the trumpet, even though I mostly taught the piano (with the best of my knowledge). There was one time that I remember before the pandemic occurred, on October, I gave a trumpet sectional to the Oxford Jazz band teaching them the fundamentals of the blues and identifying the melody, rhythm, and harmony (form for which to improvise on). My teaching style is fun and effective. I find that a huge percentage of issues people face are themselves, so I employ fun techniques to overcome obstacles. An example would be a student I currently have who gets tense as she approaches higher notes- I will have her toss a ball back and forth as a distraction technique and it's amazing that a beautiful, free high note come right out! Instruments: Piano Guitar Drums
I began teaching in 2008 for a company where I taught for about five years. I have worked with students of many different ages teaching Guitar, Piano and Drums. I believe to really see any results with your instrument is going to require a solid dedication to practicing. Especially for beginners. The main thing is you really have to enjoy what you're doing as you're learning this new instrument or else becoming proficient at it is going to be a struggle. Read More
