Music is for everyone and I want lessons to always be a safe space, and a fun space. There is no one right pace for people to learn, whatever works best for you! We can achieve this by setting S.M.A.R.T goals, as well as potential benchmarks to rate progress by. I like to approach each lesson with empathy, humor, and curiosity. I think there is much we can learn from ourselves and each other, so I like to keep my teaching focused, exciting, but also attentive to each persons needs and what goals we are trying to achieve in a given day. Mastering technique is the surest way to leave the student free to express themselves musically. After an initial assessment is made of the student's voice, I create a series of vocal exercises to address any vocal weaknesses/problems. The first 20 minutes of a typical lesson are spent warming up/performing technical exercises. The remainder of the lesson focuses on applying what was learned technically to the music that the student and teacher have chosen. Read More

As a composer and multi-instrumentalist, I have put myself in a position that brings me across an extremely wide and dense variety of music that I've been only too happy to explore. In addition to my long-running classical training with piano, clarinet and composition, I've explored jazz, world, rock, fusion, electronic and avant-garde music through the acquisition of my composition degree and through extensive research and self-teaching with saxophone and guitar. I'm a young musician, and I have a strong believe in the importance of all forms of artistic expression. Above all, I understand that music, of all art forms, is integral to social and personal development. I graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a BA in music in vocal performance in 2013, and in 2012, I had the amazing experience of studying under the renowned soprano, Delia Surratt, in Rome. In school, I also completed a theatre minor and was the musical director of my a cappella group, so I am familiar with many styles of singing. Read More

I am a high-energy, high-impact instructor that loves working with students and sharing music education as a means of communication and connection. From 2022 to the present, I've been enrolled at DePauw University for a Bachelor of Musical Arts in Voice and Education Studies. To better hone my vocal teaching experience, I have taught and directed the Wilbur Wright Middle School choir, Munster High School Intermediate and Chorale choirs, and my university's Chamber choir. Though I have taught on and off for the last fifteen years, my most formative experience as a teacher was my time teaching at School of Rock in 2015. I taught bass, guitar, keyboards, vocals, and ensemble musicianship to students ranging in age from 6 to 60. I enjoyed using the music they loved in order to teach the fundamentals of music, just as I learned the fundamentals from the music I love. Read More

I continued teaching private lessons, while also conducting a high school youth choir in Chicagoland after moving to IL. After a few years my family and I moved to the greater Cincinnati area where I currently teach as a high school choral and drama teacher while serving as the theatre manager as well. I strongly encourage my students to learn to communicate with their music; while building strong technique and working on artistic expression, I want each student to be able to use music as a language.
