I began studying classical singing and performing in gospel choirs, vocal ensembles and chorales at a young age. After earning my Masters Degree in Education, I enjoyed 10 years of teaching 7th to 12th grade students in public schools. I have performed throughout the country as a classical, jazz and contemporary vocalist before opening my own recording studio in 2014. Growing up I was always told “practice makes perfect”, though as I grew I realized music is art and art was never meant to be perfect. I do make sure to encourage all of my students to practice as it does help make you a better musician, but perfection is never the goal. Music is an expression and a gift that should always be treated as such. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with a variety of beginner voice books based of the students interest. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance.
