I am passionate about teaching as well as performing. My night job includes performing as a classical pianist at Cavey's Italian Restaurant in Manchester, CT on Saturday nights every other month. In voice, I let my students' goals guide their lessons. Whether it be stage performance, studio recording or personal satisfaction, I will use a variety of techniques to help them reach their individual goals. In violin and viola, I teach the Suzuki method combined with some contemporary and fun improvisation. I teach theory, but also how to communicate with musicians in general. For all of my students, I let them pick a song (vocal) or piece (violin) that they would like to sing or play. This way I can analyze what level they are on. For my voice students, I start with vocal warm-up exercises of the different vowels. It helps me to understand their range as well as tone of voice. My teaching experience dates back to my undergraduate days, as I began teaching private lessons part-time 7 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students all across the globe in the US, Singapore, and Taiwan. I have worked with beginner, intermediate, and advanced players and adjusted to their needs accordingly, as well as gained valuable knowledge on how to efficiently resolve the difficulties encountered by the students.
