For students who are young children, I like to start working on fundamental musical and singing concepts, including posture, breath management, pitch matching, music literacy, and expression. I work with each student to find songs which are appropriate for their voice, and songs they are excited about working on. Most of my instruction experience has been on-the-job teaching of my professional associates and bandmates as a Musical Director and bandmate. I have occasionally taught lessons during brief stints off of the road, but playing on the road has been my primary job for most of my adult life. Teaching, learning, practice and rehearsal have played a major role in my day-to-day life. I am passionate about helping vocal students reach within and find their confidence. I encourage my students to find their joy while they're singing and to connect their emotions with the music-- that is the central focus of performance. I assist students in improving their singing for original music they have written as well as their favorite songs by other artists that they love to sing. It is important to me that students see the benefit in daily upkeep, maintainence and conditioning of their vocal instrument as well as their singing practice. Read More
