I have been teaching continuously since 2002. I started by teaching undergraduate students at UT and continued in high schools and middle schools in the greater austin area. I encourage students to find the best fit for their interests and talents during lessons. Some students want to be able to sing better in church or school choirs, while others are interested in musical solos or college auditions. For students of all ages, I start with a small book focusing on the essential elements of the instrument while teaching them something fun and recognizable. As basic techniques are acquired and musical concepts are grasped, I tailor the lesson to what the students long term goals are. For students of all skill levels, I begin by communicating with them about their goals and continue on with a gentle warm up. I then guide the student through various exercises that are designed to improve and strengthen specific areas of the voice, specific registers, problem areas, and so on. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor's degree on Vocal Performance, and am currently a second-year master's student pursuing a degree in Vocal Pedagagy. I am aspiring to be an educator in the realm of community outreach, to be on the opera stage, and to produce and record classical, childrens, Christian, jazz and ethno-cultural sacred music. Along with pursuing a career in teaching, I am pursuing positions in the fields of acting and voice-over work, including character voices, commercial singing, and advertising, I enjoy acting, storytelling, inspiring audiences of all ages, and artful expression by medium of the written word. As mentioned, I began teaching in my teenage years and to this day, it is one of my greatest passions.
