As a teacher, I have worked on vocal technique and coached audition material with many fellow actors. I have also worked with high-schoolers on material from musicals. I am a very patient, fun and challenging teacher for all skill levels.  I have small recording studio in my home that I use to make demos for my students, or record lessons and backing tracks. I am a multi-instumentalist/performer/teacher who loves working with students of all ages and musical backgrounds. My specialty is classical music, but I am also a singer/songwriter! I have a masters degree in Oboe Performance from the prestigious CCM, at the University of Cincinnati. I live as a freelance oboist, pianist, and vocalist in New York City, and am currently recording my first full length album. I ask my students what their goal is with singing and if they want to do it professionally. Then I do vocal exercises to find out which voice my student has whether its soprano, mezzo-soprano or altos. Once I know what type of voice my student has, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire from opera, musical theatre or pop. I always start my lessons off with vocal exercises in order to assess the status of the voice and what we need to work on, and also what progress has been made since our last session, if any. In order to keep my students interested, I like to work on repertoire that theyre interested in and that they select. I definitely suggest pieces that I think might help practice areas of their vocal technique that they would like to improve, but I also want to make sure its music that they like and want to sing. I enjoy watching students progress and improve. It brings joy to them and myself. Playing guitar or bass for me is a form of art therapy/meditation. It's a place where one can lose themselves and activate/stimulate the brain unlike any other engagement as the brain is simultaneously multi-tasking when playing an instrument.
