I like to begin with the basics of singing technique, sight reading, and music theory. In order to be a successful singer, one must be proficient in all of these! I like to assign music by the second or third lesson, depending on the student's readiness and ability. I typically assign one classical and/or one musical theater song, depending on the student's interest. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. There, I had my own voice studio, comprised of top performing vocal students, as well a course open to any level of singers, which introduced them to a healthy singing technique.
