The first teaching concept I focus on is the capacity to produce great sounds with the least amount of effort. Therefore I spend some time in getting the student to play very relaxed to create a relationship with body and mind, I believe music is an extension of the body and so if the mind and body are relaxed then music will come out flawless. We will use students ideas of songs they are interested in learning as well as some of my own suggestions for repertoire. Read More

My teaching style is very simple, "Give a man a fish, and you'll feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you'll feed him for a lifetime." This is my philosophy of teaching. I am extremely enthusiastic about arts education and passionate about teaching. Ever since I started teaching music with a focus on early childhood music, I have been passionate in my commitment to three things: maximizing individual student performance, inspiring students’ interest in music and technology as well as instilling a sense of self-worth among all students! My methods of teaching have been refined over the years and I've found it that methods of teaching have to be tailored to each student. For every lesson I develop a lesson plan that organizes the lesson so there is no time wasted. As I get to know the student more, I develop a lesson plan specific to the student and work on the things that need work but as well as to keep the student motivated by performing and memorizing. Several of my students have gone on to have careers in the music industry. One of my students is Candi Lynn who was kind enough to give me a "shout out " on the sleeve notes of her first CD. http://www.candilynn.com/ I set realistic goals for my students and I'm always honest. Success is 90 percent perspiration and 10 percent inspiration. Hard work always pays off. I work to find out what a student's strengths are and help develop them. Read More

I am a multi-faceted professional musician and can be found performing all over New York City and other parts of the country. For the last ten years I have had experience teaching young beginners, high school students, college music majors and secondary non-majors, as well as adult amateurs. Professionally, I am a classical music singer, and I also perform on modern and historical oboes, as well as recorders. The piano was my very first instrument, which I studied for ten years performing and competing before I decided to focus on singing and playing the oboe. Read More
