I began teaching voice over 5 years ago and have maintained a studio of singers varying in vocal style, age, and skill level. Each one has brought new challenges to me as a teacher and helped me home in on my teaching style and methods. If my students don't feel encouraged, practice on their own, or aren't having fun in lessons then I am not doing my job correctly! My methods are based on life experience from studying with different teachers through out my career and being an AMDA graduate. I am very old school, meaning I expect them to memorize lyrics and lines, and understand what they are saying and why. I approach teaching as a teacher who still performs,and learned by doing it. I am a multi-instrumentalist, having played piano (classical and pop/rock/blues and more) for 25 years, guitar and vocals for 17 years, and various other instruments including mandolin, banjo, blues and folk harmonica, bass guitar, 12-string guitar for over 10 years. I choose the books according to my assessment of the student during the introductory lesson. The Faber Method is one of the more popular ones. I also use the Alfred All-in-One books series. As supplemental material, I use Keynote Speller by Shaum and Line a Day by Keith Snell.  For solo repertoire, I select methods based on the skills and favorite pieces of each student. Hello, my name is Briona. I'm a Vocalist with ten years of work experience onboard the top cruise lines as a Lead Vocalist. As a resident Vocalist onboard I had the opportunity to travel the world and experience cultural immersion from Europe, the Middle East, Australia, China, Japan, South America to the Antarctic circle.
